What’s Included
- Barrel: Additional Browning BPS Field Model 28 in vent-rib barrel (BPS Special Steel), 12 ga, 2-3/4 in and 3 in chamber with front bead; bright in-the-white/silver exterior (not blued; appears stripped/polished or otherwise refinished)
Made in Japan in 1980 as indicated by the serial code, this Hunter Field Model carries correct Browning rollmarks: "Browning Arms Company Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q." over "MADE IN JAPAN" on the barrel under the rib, and "BPS Special Steel" on the barrel. The receiver shows only the serial number (09956PM152). It is chambered for 2-3/4 in and 3 in shells, satisfying buyers looking for a true 3 in chamber in a BPS field gun.
The shotgun uses the BPS bottom-eject receiver design with a steel, gloss-blued receiver and a gold-colored trigger. Controls include a top-tang safety, and the tubular magazine provides a 2+1 capacity.
Both barrels are factory-stamped 28 in and feature vent ribs with a fine matted rib surface and a single front bead. The barrel stamp reads "BPS Special Steel 12GA – 2-3/4 in and 3 in Field Model – 28 in." The fixed Improved Cylinder choke is indicated by the **- choke stamp. Note: The included spare 28 in barrel presents a bright in-the-white/silver exterior with a darker rib and is not blued; it appears stripped/polished or otherwise refinished from the original factory blued finish.
The stock is gloss walnut with cut checkering. A Browning-branded ventilated recoil pad with white/black line spacers completes the field configuration. Length of pull measures 14.25 in.
