Developed for the innovative .22 VL caseless round, this rifle uses a single-shot, spring-piston underlever system that heats compressed air to ignite the propellant—no cartridge case required. Factory literature cited performance of about 1,150 ft/s with a 29-grain projectile, highlighting the design’s unique efficiency for its era.
The Special Presentation Model features a brass oval buttstock plate engraved "VL Rifle Special Presentation Model — DAISY/HEDDON," marking it as a limited-release piece (1/5,000). It wears a blued/black finish, an 18-inch crowned barrel, and a 14.0-inch length of pull, paired with a hardwood, pistol-grip stock and a ribbed VL-logo buttplate.
Sighting is straightforward and practical, with a ramped front post and a rear notched leaf sight with an elevation slider. A manual sliding safety on the left side of the receiver includes a red dot indicator for quick visual confirmation.
