This Norinco Type 56 SKS is a Chinese-made, import-marked semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.62x39 with a 20.5" barrel. It retains its folding spike bayonet and cleaning rod, and features hardwood furniture in the classic orange-red finish. The rifle shows matching partial numbers on multiple major components and carries clear China Sports Inc. (CSI) Ontario, CA import marks alongside a triangular arsenal cartouche.

Built on the SKS platform, this Type 56 uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a tilting bolt. It is chambered in 7.62x39 and fitted with a steel receiver and an approximately 20.5" barrel.
The rifle retains signature SKS features including a fixed internal 10-round magazine with a hinged floorplate and an integral bayonet lug with a folding spike bayonet in-the-white. The standard SKS cleaning rod is present under the barrel. An aftermarket clamp-on muzzle device is installed ahead of the front sight; the Type 56 SKS was originally imported with a plain, unthreaded muzzle.
Furniture consists of a hardwood stock in a reddish/orange finish and a wood upper handguard with longitudinal ventilation cuts. Length of pull is 12.0, providing a compact stock dimensions profile consistent with the pattern.
Sighting is via iron sights: a protected front post and a tangent rear sight leaf graduated 1–10 with a battle setting. Markings include a triangular arsenal cartouche on the left receiver and the right-side import legend "SKS 7.62X39 MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO CSI ONT CA." Matching partial serial "03700" appears on the bolt carrier, receiver cover, trigger guard, fixed magazine, and buttstock.
