The Model 36 (No Dash) is a 5-shot J-frame chambered in .38 Special, built on carbon steel with a polished blue finish. This example dates to 1966 and carries the correct "MOD. 36" yoke cut marking, aligning it with the early no-dash configuration.
The 2 inch tapered, pinned barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON" on the left and "38 S.&W. SPL." on the right. It retains the unshrouded ejector rod with knurled tip and a fluted cylinder, reflecting period-correct features for this era.
Sighting is by fixed iron sights: an integral serrated ramp front and a fixed square-notch rear cut into a serrated topstrap. Controls include the raised, checkered teardrop cylinder release (post flat-latch style), an exposed hammer with a checkered spur, and a smooth-face trigger. Both the hammer and trigger show color case-hardening.
Factory rollmarks on the right frame read "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." with the S&W "Trade Mark" medallion on the sideplate. The revolver is fitted with aftermarket Pachmayr black rubber wraparound grips that complement the snubnose profile.
