Built on an open-top Colt-pattern frame, this six-shot percussion revolver uses a wedge-retained barrel assembly with a retaining screw and an under-barrel loading lever with a front latch. The steel octagonal barrel measures approximately 7 3/8 inches and carries the barrel-top legend "1851 OLD MODEL, .44 CALIBER ARMY REVOLVER."
Materials and finish include a blued steel frame, cylinder, and barrel, complemented by a brass grip frame, backstrap, and trigger guard. The one-piece hardwood grip has a gloss finish for a classic look and secure feel.
This example is factory engraved, with scroll-and-border work on the brass grip frame and trigger guard and matching scroll on the steel frame flats. The cylinder is the plain six-shot type without a naval-scene roll, and the revolver employs cylinder safety pins.
Fixed sights consist of a front blade and a hammer-notch rear. Markings include Italian proof marks and "MADE IN ITALY," "R ITALY," and "BLACK POWDER ONLY." Matching serial numbers are present on the barrel lug and grip frame. Made in Italy.
