Developed for law-enforcement use and produced from 1964 into the late 1970s, the Model 58 was offered only in a 4-inch heavy-barrel configuration with fixed sights, in blue or nickel. This example dates to 1970 and falls into the early N-prefix serial range, aligning with the first year of N-frame N-serials.
Built on the robust N-frame with a square-butt grip profile, this revolver uses a carbon-steel frame finished in polished blue. It has a six-shot fluted cylinder, DA/SA operation, a knurled ejector-rod tip, and the standard checkered cylinder-release latch. Stocks are checkered walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions.
The fixed-sight system pairs a top-strap rear sighting groove with a ramped front blade; the exact front sight configuration should be confirmed from the photos.
Target upgrades include a wide, serrated target-style trigger. A wide-spur target-style hammer is included but not installed. The matching factory box and period instruction sheet add completeness and context to this 1970 example.
