The TAR 12 MP is a gas-operated, semi-automatic, detachable box-magazine-fed AR-pattern shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. It runs a 3 inch chamber and ships with a 5-round steel magazine, with factory markings on the magwell reading 12 GA / 3" MAGNUM. The receiver is marked TAR 12.
Controls are straightforward: a safety selector, a charging handle with right-side ejection, and a left-side bolt catch/bolt-release. The polymer furniture includes a telescoping stock with a rubber buttpad and an AR-style polymer pistol grip. Length of pull is 14.0 inches.
Sighting and mounting surfaces include flip-up front and rear iron sights, a full-length top Picatinny rail, and additional 3/6/9 o'clock rail sections on the Picatinny-railed polymer forend, offering ample space for sighting solutions and accessories.
The 18.5 inch barrel uses a Benelli/Mobil-style screw-in choke system. An extended Cylinder tube is installed, and Modified and Full tubes are included. A spare heavy-load gas piston marked 'HEAVY' is provided for setup with stout loads as needed.
