The Gen 1 SUB-2000 pairs a 16.25-inch barrel with a straight-blowback system and a heavy two-piece bolt housed in the tubular stock. It accepts double-column pistol magazines and offers a 15+1 capacity in .40 S&W. The receiver is glass-reinforced polymer (Zytel) and marked "SUB-2000 CAL .40 S&W."
Its folding barrel/forend locks to the receiver tower, reducing the carbine to about 16 x 7 inches when folded. The charging handle is reciprocating and positioned under the tube for straightforward operation.
Sighting is fast and clear with a hooded, fiber-optic, adjustable front sight paired to an integral rear aperture. The adjustable front sight is easy to tune, supporting precise zeroing with .40 S&W loads.
This example is upgraded with an aftermarket quad-rail handguard for added accessory mounting (upgraded rail) and a rear sling attachment at the stock hinge (installed sling mount). The original factory polymer fore-end and original parts are included.
