The SCAR 16S is built around a forged aluminum monolithic upper that provides a rigid interface for optics and accessories. It carries a full-length numbered Picatinny top rail plus accessory rails at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. Markings include FN HERSTAL BELGIUM on the rifle and the FNH USA Fredericksburg VA importer stamp.
The 16.25 inch barrel is cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined for durability and easy maintenance. FN’s standard tall gas block, which incorporates the folding front sight tower and the adjustable gas regulator, supports reliable operation. The barrel is threaded and fitted with a multi-port compensator/muzzle brake.
This is the legacy RCH version with a reciprocating, left-side charging handle, predating the NRCH change introduced later. The rifle uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt, and includes a manual safety.
Ergonomics are highly configurable: the black polymer stock folds and telescopes, with an adjustable cheek rest and length of pull, and a rubber buttpad. The rifle includes folding iron sights, with a protected front post and an elevation-adjustable rear drum.
Capacity is 30+1 in 5.56x45 NATO. This example is in excellent condition and ships with one 30-round magazine, the original box, the FNH USA owner's manual, and a gun lock.
