The MK II variant of the Model 1400 uses a gas system with a piston around the magazine tube that drives twin action bars and a rotating bolt. This configuration, paired with right-side ejection and a right-side charging handle, gives the shotgun its distinctive operation and handling.
The 28 inch vent-rib barrel is topped with a single bead sight and fitted with a fixed Full choke. The chamber is 2 3/4 inch, and the tubular magazine provides a 2+1 capacity.
The aluminum alloy receiver wears a black anodized finish that complements the blued barrel. Wood furniture includes a checkered pistol-grip stock and a matching checkered fore-end, complemented by a ventilated recoil pad with a white-line spacer. Length of pull is 14.0 inches.
