What’s Included
- Winchester Model 70 bolt-action rifle, rebarreled to .22-250 Ackley Improved
- Installed scope mount
Rebarreled to .22-250 Ackley Improved, this Model 70 uses a 26-inch heavy-contour stainless barrel with longitudinal flutes, a plain crown, and a free-floated barrel channel. The barrel has a matte/bead-blasted stainless finish with brighter polished flutes, while the receiver wears a blued/black finish and the bottom metal is two-tone with a stainless/silver hinged floorplate and a blued/black trigger guard; the rifle is configured with no iron sights.
The action is the Winchester push-feed design with a spring-loaded plunger ejector and a 3-position wing safety. It feeds from an internal box magazine with a 5+1 capacity. The bolt body shows spiral fluting and is fitted with a round checkered knob for positive control.
The stock is a black composite unit with a straight comb and a beavertail fore-end for added support. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the length of pull measures 13.0 inches. The free-floated barrel setup is matched by a free-floated barrel channel in the stock.
Optics setup is straightforward thanks to the installed scope mount, and the rifle omits iron sights. This example dates to 1994 and represents a 1990s-era Model 70 updated with a purpose-built stainless tube for the Ackley Improved chambering.
