Product Description

Winchester Model 42 Standard Grade .410 Bore Pump-Action, 28-Inch Plain Barrel, 3-Inch Chamber (1941) Takedown

This Winchester Model 42 Standard Grade is a 1941-production .410 pump-action shotgun with a 28-inch plain barrel and a fixed Modified choke. It features factory takedown construction with matching serial numbers on the receiver and barrel extension, Winchester oval WP proofs, and a clean, mirror-bright bore. The shotgun shows a mixed finish: the barrel and magazine tube retain blued steel while the receiver and takedown collar/magazine sleeve are bright/in-the-white, paired with walnut furniture. It has an aftermarket rubber recoil pad installed that yields a 15.0-inch length of pull.

Bore Overall Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Specific Condition Notes: The firearm presents with normal finish and handling wear consistent with its age. The bore is clean and shiny. An aftermarket rubber recoil pad has been installed.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester Model 42 Standard Grade .410 Bore pump-action shotgun
    • Aftermarket rubber recoil pad (installed)

Built in 1941, this Model 42 is configured as a takedown with directional arrows on the magazine-tube sleeve and takedown collar. The receiver and barrel extension share matching serial numbers, and Winchester oval WP proofs are present on the barrel and receiver ring.

The 28-inch plain steel barrel is marked "Winchester Proof Steel" with U.S. patent numbers and carries a fixed Modified choke. A single front bead provides a straightforward sight picture. The chamber is cut for 3-inch .410 shells.

The shotgun uses a bottom-loading, right-side ejection system and a five-round tubular magazine for a 5+1 capacity. Operation is via the classic pump-action system that made the Model 42 a standout in the .410 Bore platform.

Furniture includes a walnut pistol-grip stock and a corncob-style grooved walnut fore-end. The stock is plain and uncheckered and is fitted with an aftermarket rubber recoil pad. Length of pull measures 15.0 inches.
