The Colt Government Model MK IV/Series 70 is a full-size 1911 platform with a 5-inch barrel, chambered in .45 ACP. This example is U.S.-made and dates to 1978, with the G70 suffix serial range aligning with late-1970s production. It uses the Series 70 design, which omits a firing-pin block.
The pistol wears a matte/satin nickel finish on its steel frame and slide. Controls are period-correct, including a short solid trigger and a short spur hammer. It retains a smooth frontstrap and an arched, checkered mainspring housing, along with a standard, checkered magazine release.
Sighting equipment is the fixed GI-pattern setup: a staked front blade paired with a square-notch rear in a dovetail. The slide has rear vertical serrations. Two non-factory drilled and tapped holes are present on the top of the slide behind the rear sight.
