The steel receiver uses the proven Model 37/87 pattern with bottom ejection and bottom loading. Capacity is 2+1. The action is pump-operated and built in the King Ferry, New York era, as reflected by the factory markings.
The 26-inch barrel is ventilated rib and roto-forged, with a fixed full choke. It is chambered for both 2 3/4 in and 3 in shells, and wears a single orange front bead for a clean sight picture. Barrel markings include "M-87 FEATHERLIGHT," "KING FERRY, N.Y.," and "ROTO FORGED."
The stock set is laminated hardwood in a multi-tone green/amber/charcoal/orange scheme. It features a pistol-grip buttstock, a beavertail forend, a rubber recoil pad with white line spacer, front and rear sling swivel studs (front on the magazine cap), and a 14.0 in length of pull. The metal shows a matte blued/oxide finish, and the firearm is marked "PROOF TESTED."
