The Model 19-9 Classic maintains the K-frame six-shot configuration chambered in .357 Magnum and also accepts .38 Special +P. Its 4.25-inch barrel balances carry and shootability, with an overall length of 9.875 inches and an unloaded weight of 37.2 ounces.
The barrel is a modern two-piece design with a stainless-steel inner tube and a carbon-steel shroud. The topstrap and barrel rib are longitudinally serrated to reduce glare, and the ejector-rod shroud is not full-length, reflecting the traditional Combat Magnum profile.
Sights are fully adjustable iron sights: a pinned red ramp front and a black adjustable rear blade. The action is double-action/single-action with a smooth, narrow trigger and a spurred, checkered hammer. The cylinder is fluted.
The carbon-steel frame and cylinder wear a high-polish blue finish, and the right side of the barrel is roll-marked with "-357 MAGNUM-" over "COMBAT MAGNUM." Factory markings include "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." with the S&W crest on the left sideplate.
