The M&P45 Shield delivers a compact .45 Auto package with a 3.3 inch stainless steel barrel and a slim 1.05 inch width. Overall length is 6.45 inches, height is 4.88 inches, and unloaded weight is 20.5 ounces, making it an easy-carry single-stack .45 with familiar M&P ergonomics.
Its stainless steel slide and barrel wear S&W's black Armornite finish. The slide is marked "M&P 45 SHIELD" and includes forward cocking serrations and rear serrations for confident manipulation. The frame is polymer with an aggressive molded texture for a secure grip.
Sight picture comes from a fiber-optic 3-dot set: a red fiber-optic front and a green fiber-optic rear that is dovetailed with a set-screw. Controls include a left-side magazine release and a hinged trigger with a hinged trigger safety. This specific variant is the No Thumb Safety model.
Chambered in .45 ACP, it uses a single-column detachable box magazine system. The barrel hood is marked "45 AUTO," and the frame carries the factory "CAUTION—CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED" marking. Included are three 7-round magazines and one 6-round magazine, with a listed capacity of 7+1.
