FN Browning Model 1903 9mm Browning Long Semi-Auto, 5 inch Barrel, Belgian Proofs, Two Magazines
Belgian-made by FN Herstal and designed by John M. Browning, this Browning Model 1903 is chambered in 9mm Browning Long and features a 5 inch barrel. It shows Belgian proof marks on the barrel/chamber and retains its factory checkered hard-rubber FN-monogram grips. Two correct-pattern magazines and an extra pair of wood grip panels are included. FN produced approximately 58,442 examples by 1927, and this pistol represents that early single-action, blowback lineage.
The Model 1903, also known as Modèle 1903 or Browning No.2, uses an all-steel construction with an internal striker and single-action trigger. A right-side frame lever serves as the takedown/slide latch, and the heel-type magazine catch uses a serrated latch. Safety features include a manual safety, a grip safety, and a disconnector.
Sight setup is straightforward and robust: a half-moon blade front and an integral rear notch milled into the slide. The slide carries rear vertical cocking serrations. Capacity is 7+1 with its single-stack magazines, and the pistol is full-size for a steady, balanced feel.
This example includes two steel FN 1903-pattern magazines with the long central witness slot and heel-catch tab. The extra, not-installed wood grip panels add flexibility for the next owner while the factory hard-rubber FN grips remain on the pistol.
