The New Bearcat configuration includes a blued steel 4.2-inch barrel and a blued steel, unfluted cylinder. Sighting is via a ramp/blade front and an integral topstrap rear notch, and operation is single-action-only with an external hammer.
The cylinder is factory roll-engraved with an outdoor scene and "RUGER BEARCAT" text, adding a distinctive factory-applied detail specific to this model. The ejector rod housing uses a round, flat-faced ejector button for positive case extraction.
Grip panels are smooth hardwood with Ruger silver-eagle medallions. Safety is provided by Ruger’s transfer-bar system.
