This LMT Defense MARS-L New Zealand Reference Rifle pairs the proven MRP LM8 monolithic upper with a MARS-LS semi-automatic lower to deliver a factory-documented configuration with comprehensive ambidextrous controls. It features a 16 inch chrome-lined, MP tested barrel with a 1:7 twist, a SureFire-branded muzzle device, and continuous 1913 top and bottom rails. Factory labeling shows model code MARSL16NZR, and assembly/test tags are dated January 2024.

The monolithic LMT MRP LM8 upper provides a rigid, one-piece handguard with continuous 1913 top and bottom rails. T- and B-indexing markings aid repeatable accessory placement. The LM8 smooth sides accept attachable panels and accessories. The quick-change two-bolt barrel interface allows straightforward barrel removal and reinstallation within the MRP system.
The 16 inch barrel is chrome-lined and MP tested, marked "MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 CB" to denote caliber and 1:7 twist. A SureFire-branded muzzle device is installed on the threaded muzzle, complementing the rifle's 5.56mm NATO chambering.
The MARS-LS lower includes ambidextrous bolt catch/release, ambidextrous magazine release, and ambidextrous safety. The rifle uses standard STANAG magazines and has a typical capacity of 30+1. This example uses an LMT rail-mounted QD sling socket on the handguard with an LMT QD sling swivel pre-installed.
Supporting documents include factory inspection/test tags dated January 2024 and the original MARSL16NZR end label. The rifle ships with LMT textured panels installed on the LM8 sides and the LMT MRP barrel torque wrench with calibration sticker, adding practical value for users of the MRP quick-change system.
