Assembled by Steyr Arms, Inc. in Bessemer, Alabama, it retains the hallmark AUG ergonomics including the integrated folding vertical foregrip and ambidextrous-friendly layout elements.
The 16 in barrel is quick-change, cold hammer forged, and chrome-lined for durability and service life. A three-prong flash hider sits on the threaded muzzle, and the 1:9 RH twist supports common 5.56mm NATO loads. The short-stroke gas piston system uses a two-position adjustable regulator and a rotating bolt for reliable operation.
This Short-Rail top receiver provides a compact mounting surface with numbered slots 1–11 and is paired with a right-side accessory rail. The charging handle is on the left side, and the rifle ejects to the right, with a left-side ejection-port cover installed.
It accepts Steyr AUG-pattern magazines and comes with a factory 42-round magazine for a 42+1 capacity. Sling attachment is straightforward via the front sling ring at the gas block and a rear sling loop.
