The ZPAPM70 uses a stamped, riveted AK-pattern receiver with 1.5 mm walls and a reinforced/bulged front trunnion. Yugoslav-pattern elements include the absence of magazine-well dimples and a receiver-cover locking button on the left rear. It features a smooth, ribless top cover and a long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt.
The 16.3-inch barrel is cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined for durability and easy maintenance. The muzzle is threaded M14x1 LH and comes with an AKM-style 45° slant muzzle brake installed.
Furniture is light-colored hardwood, including a fixed buttstock with a metal buttplate and rear sling swivel, a lower handguard with three elongated cooling slots per side, a smooth wooden upper handguard, and a wooden pistol grip. The bolt carrier/charging handle is left in the white (polished steel) for a traditional look.
Sights are classic iron units: a hoodless front-sight block with an adjustable post and a tangent rear sight leaf. The manual safety lever includes a bolt-hold-open notch. Length of pull is 12.75 inches, and capacity is 30+1 with the included magazine.
