Built on the open-top 1860 pattern with a transverse wedge, this snub-nose variant retains the classic single-action layout while shortening the barrel to 3 inches for a compact profile. The six-shot .44 caliber percussion cylinder carries traditional cylinder safety pins.
The revolver combines a blued barrel and cylinder with a color case-hardened steel frame and receiver. Checkered, one-piece birdshead wood grips provide a secure hold in a compact footprint.
Sighting is simple and durable, with a fixed brass bead front and hammer-notch rear. Markings include "BLACK POWDER ONLY .44 CAL." along with Italian proof marks and PN black-powder proof.
Made in Italy by F.lli Pietta, this recent-release reproduction is date-coded 2021 and ships with a brass cylinder-loading tool to support loading the cylinder off the gun, as there is no integral loading lever on the 3 inch snub-nose barrel.
