The P4 is an alloy-frame evolution of the P38 family, distinguished by a one-piece strengthened slide with no separate top cover seam and an open-top slide/barrel profile. The slide carries the Walther banner and "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do." markings, along with "P4."
It uses a DA/SA, short-recoil, locked-breech system with a pivoting locking block. The slide-mounted decocker-only lever safely lowers the hammer and returns to the fire position, and a firing pin safety adds an extra internal safeguard.
Sighting is straightforward and durable: fixed iron sights with a hooded white-dot front blade on a replaceable-height base marked "2," paired with a fixed rear notch. The front sight configuration aids quick alignment while maintaining a low-profile setup.
Construction combines a blued slide and anodized aluminum-alloy frame with black checkered synthetic grips. Markings include German eagle/N and Ulm antler proofs, plus "MADE IN W. GERMANY" and the "INTERARMS ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA" import stamp on the right side.
Chambered in 9mm Luger with an approximately 4.1 in barrel, the P4 accepts standard 8-round P38-pattern magazines. This example includes two Walther factory magazines for an 8+1 ready configuration.
