The KP-9 uses a stamped AK-pattern receiver with riveted trunnions and a simple blowback action in 9mm Luger. It is configured with a 9.25-inch barrel and a 30+1 capacity, retaining familiar AK-style controls, including a manual safety with "S / F" selector markings.
Topside, the hinged dust cover integrates a full-length Picatinny rail for mounting accessories. Sighting is via a protected front post and a tangent rear leaf marked with 5/10/15/20 graduations. An AKSU-style front sight tower and a perforated cylindrical upper handguard complete the classic profile.
The lower handguard is a Zenitco milled aluminum railed unit, identifiable by Russian markings reading "ООО 'ЗЕНИТ', Сделано в России." The pistol is fitted with a PK-3 polymer pistol grip and a side-folding pistol stabilizing brace mounted on a Strike Industries folding adapter, offering a compact footprint when folded.
The barrel is threaded 1/2x28 for compatible muzzle devices. Included are three K-USA polymer 30-round magazines with logoed baseplates. K-USA branding appears on the receiver and magazine basepads, and the pistol arrives with the factory red hard case and the KP-9/KR-9 Series manual.
