The XD-45 Service Model is a full-size .45 ACP with a 4-inch carbon-steel barrel and a polymer frame. Its double-stack design provides a 13+1 capacity while maintaining practical dimensions and balance.
The slide and barrel are Melonite-treated carbon steel for durability and corrosion resistance. Forward and rear cocking serrations aid manipulation, while both a loaded chamber indicator and a striker status indicator provide clear visual/tactile status cues.
Controls and safety features include an ambidextrous magazine release, a grip safety, a bladed trigger safety, and an internal striker block. The sights are steel, fixed 3-dot units set in dovetails, with white-dot front and rear for straightforward alignment.
An integral accessory rail with two cross-slots is molded into the dust cover. The slide carries the Springfield Armory crossed-cannons crest, and the pistol bears "SPRINGFIELD INC. GENESEO, IL — MADE IN CROATIA" markings, reflecting its HS2000 lineage.
