The SPEC15 platform uses a semi-automatic, direct-impingement system and accepts AR-15/STANAG magazines with a listed capacity of 30+1. Controls include a manual safety selector with a two-position lever; selector markings show SAFE/FIRE on the right side and SAFE/FIRE/FULL on the left side.
The 16-inch barrel is threaded and fitted with a birdcage-style flash suppressor. An extended free-float aluminum handguard with triangular lightening cuts provides rigidity and heat dissipation, along with added 12-o'clock rail segments. A continuous Picatinny rail spans the flattop upper receiver for mounting accessories.
