The California Compliant M&P40 Shield (SKU 11906) retains the proven Shield ergonomics and slim single-stack form while adding state-compliant features. This variant includes a loaded chamber indicator, aligning with California requirements while preserving the model's straightforward handling.
Construction is centered on a stainless-steel slide and 3.1-inch stainless barrel treated with Smith & Wesson's Armornite/Melonite nitride finish in black. A rigid internal stainless-steel chassis anchors the black polymer frame. The striker-fired action, hinged trigger safety, and push-button magazine release round out a familiar M&P control layout.
The factory Hi-Viz fiber-optic sight package is a highlight: a green fiber-optic front and orange fiber-optic rear, both dovetailed. The slide provides rear fish-scale serrations for purchase and a top loaded-chamber indicator for at-a-glance status. Slide markings include "M&P 40 SHIELD" and "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A."
