Built as a Montgomery Ward store-brand variant, this M550CR follows the Mossberg 500C (20-gauge) pattern with right-side ejection and a 4+1 tubular magazine. It features a top-tang sliding safety and clear factory markings on the receiver: "WESTERNFIELD MADE IN U.S.A. M550CR 20 GA".
The 28 inch barrel is rollmarked for 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells and a Modified choke. It has a vent rib and a single brass front bead for a clean sight picture. The external metal is finished in blue, and the barrel inscription confirms "Chambered for 2 3/4 and 3 in. shells - 20 GA - 28 inch Modified Choke - Made in U.S.A."
The receiver is aluminum alloy with an anodized finish and factory game-scene engraving, adding visual appeal and collectible interest. An engine-turned (jeweled) bolt rounds out the small but distinctive factory touches.
The varnished hardwood stock set includes a Monte Carlo-style comb, pressed skip-line checkering, a pistol-grip cap with a white spacer, and a ventilated recoil pad with a white-line spacer. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches for a comfortable mount.
