The P5 is a DA/SA, hammer-fired, short-recoil, locked-breech design with a combined frame-mounted decocker and slide-release. It uses a heel-type magazine catch and features left-side ejection, a hallmark of this model. The enclosed steel slide has anti-glare serrations on the top, and the frame runs full-length rails for guided slide travel.
German commercial proofs are present, including the eagle over N and the Ulm antler, along with an IG date code confirming 1986 manufacture. The slide is import-marked INTERARMS ALEXANDRIA/VA, and the frame directly below the slide carries the MADE IN GERMANY rollmark, documenting its commercial import history.
The aluminum-alloy frame has a dark anodized finish and is fitted with two-piece black checkered synthetic grip panels and an external hammer. Sights are fixed iron: a front blade with a white dot and a rear square-notch with a white index for quick alignment.
Capacity is 8+1 rounds of 9mm Luger, and this example includes two factory-marked P5 magazines. Matching serial numbers on the slide, frame, and barrel add to its completeness, and the original box, manual, and factory 25 m test target round out a well-documented 1980s German-made Interarms import.
