Built by Zastava Arms in Yugoslavia, the M48 follows the proven Mauser action format and features a turned-down bolt handle and a 5+1 internal magazine. The receiver carries the "ФНРЈ ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ 44" marking, and the barrel shows the "YUGO 8MM C.A.I. GEORGIA VT" import stamp from Century Arms International.
A key upgrade on this rifle is the aftermarket Mojo Sights aperture rear unit, fitted into the original tangent sight base. Combined with the hooded front sight, it offers an aperture-style sight picture while preserving the rifle’s original mounting interface.
The barrel measures 23.25 in., and the bore is bright and clean with well-defined rifling. The rifle retains two barrel bands with inspector/proof symbols and a front bayonet lug/stacking band. Length of pull is 14.0 in.
The hardwood stock includes a left-side sling slot and a steel buttplate, and the under-barrel cleaning rod is present. Serial numbers are non-matching on the receiver, bolt, stock, and triggerguard/floorplate.
