The TS (thumb safety) configuration adds a frame-mounted manual safety to the Shield Plus platform, alongside a trigger safety and sear deactivation system. The magazine release is set up on the left side.

The slide includes wave-pattern rear serrations with forward grasping scallops, and the sights are dovetailed 3-dot irons. The slide is marked "M&P 9 SHIELD PLUS" and "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A." with the factory caution legend; the barrel hood is marked "9MM." (Case label notes 3.125 in barrel length.)
