The Model 56 uses Marlin’s Levermatic short-stroke lever system, delivering fast cycling in a compact motion. It feeds from a detachable box magazine with a stated 7+1 capacity, and this example includes two 7-round mags plus one 5-round mag.
The 24-inch barrel is marked "MODEL 56 - .22 CAL. - MICRO-GROOVE - PATENT PENDING," highlighting Marlin’s Micro-Groove rifling of the period. This rifling style was a hallmark feature across Marlin’s .22 lineup in the era.
The receiver is a curved aluminum-alloy design, drilled and tapped and presently fitted with a scope base. A ramped front sight base is present for clear aiming references.
The hardwood stock features a Monte Carlo comb and pistol-grip profile, complemented by a white-line spacer and a factory Marlin checkered buttplate. Sling swivel studs are installed fore and aft for easy sling attachment.
Originating from the 1950s–1960s, this U.S.-made rifle reflects Marlin’s mid-century design approach to lightweight, fast-handling .22 LR lever guns. No serial number is visible on this example.
