The Lawman MK III was Colt’s fixed-sight service variant within the MK III family, marketed to law enforcement. This example is chambered in .357 Magnum with a six-shot fluted cylinder and double-action/single-action operation. It cycles with clockwise cylinder rotation and uses a frame-mounted firing pin.
The 4-inch heavy-profile barrel incorporates anti-glare serrations, and this configuration retains the exposed ejector rod. Sighting is straightforward, with a fixed serrated ramp front and a fixed square-notch rear integral to the top strap.
Construction is all carbon steel with a blued finish on the frame and barrel. The revolver wears square-butt, service-style stocks in checkered walnut, accented by gold Colt medallions. The smooth-face trigger and wide, checkered hammer spur provide familiar service-oriented controls.
The MK III lockwork employs a transfer-bar safety and a coil-spring mechanism. This U.S.-made revolver dates to 1977, within the 1969–1983 MK III production run. Small star stamps flanking the barrel rollmarks are present as inspection or proof-style markings.
