The VP9 uses a striker-fired, short-recoil, tilting-barrel Browning system with a trigger safety blade. This example features the original ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release (non-VP9-B configuration), providing intuitive operation without altering the grip.
Its 4.09 inch steel barrel is cold hammer-forged with polygonal rifling. The slide wears HK's Hostile Environment nitrocarburized finish, with front and rear serrations and rear charging supports to aid manipulation. An external extractor with red loaded-chamber indicator paint provides a clear visual cue.
Sight picture comes from tritium 3-dot night sights, combining a tritium front with a Meprolight Tru-Dot tritium rear. The polymer frame includes interchangeable side panels and backstraps to fine-tune fit, and an accessory rail on the dustcover (Picatinny, multi-slot) supports compatible lights or accessories.
Proofs and markings include German C.I.P. proofs with the Ulm stag-horn, "DE," and the BF (2015) date code, plus HKI – Columbus GA import marking.
