The SB2 receiver is steel with a mottled silver/gray case-colored (color case-hardened) finish and the traditional right-side top latch. Markings include "HANDI-RIFLE SB2 CAL. 30-06" on the barrel, with the receiver showing the Gardner, MA address and U.S. Patent 3,988,848. A circled "P" proof mark appears on the barrel.
The 22 inch steel barrel is non-fluted and fitted with a radial-ported muzzle brake. There are no iron sights present, and the installed one-piece scope rail is secured by three screws to accept an optic of your choice.
This break-open, single-shot design features an exposed hammer and a transfer-bar safety. Capacity is one round. The action is straightforward and robust, suitable for the .30-06 chambering.
The furniture is laminated hardwood, with a Monte Carlo stock and matching laminated fore-end. The 14.25 inch length of pull and a ventilated recoil pad provide a solid shoulder fit and a stable cheek weld.
