This Bushmaster Carbon-15 Flat-Top Carbine stands out with its carbon-fiber–reinforced polymer receivers that keep weight down while retaining AR-15 compatibility. It features a 16-inch chrome-lined barrel with 1/2x28 threads and an A2-pattern flash suppressor, a flat-top upper with integral Picatinny rail, and a Magpul MOE carbine-length handguard paired with a Magpul CTR stock (A2 pistol grip). The Carbon-15 series uses carbon-fiber–reinforced polymer for both the upper and lower receivers, significantly reducing weight compared to traditional aluminum builds. Factory specs for this variant list an approximate weight of 5.77 lb and an overall length of about 32.75 in when collapsed. The Ilion, New York rollmark ties this carbine to Bushmaster production from roughly 2011–2014.
The 16-inch barrel is 4150 chrome-moly steel and chrome-lined for durability and ease of maintenance. It is threaded 1/2x28 and fitted with an A2-pattern flash suppressor. The carbine-length gas system uses a gas block, and the front-end is optics-ready.
The flat-top upper provides an integral Picatinny rail and includes the ejection port cover and case deflector. It uses the STANAG magazine interface and has a 30+1 capacity in 5.56mm NATO. One Magpul PMAG Gen M2 MOE 30-round magazine is included.
A Magpul MOE carbine-length polymer handguard with an accessory rail section at the 6 o'clock position and a Magpul CTR 6-position collapsible stock are installed. The listed length of pull is 11.0 inches. This semi-automatic, direct-impingement rifle includes a manual safety and is made in the United States.
