The IJ-70-18A pairs a DA/SA, straight-blowback action with a fixed steel barrel for the classic Makarov operating system. Compact dimensions include a 3.68 in (93.5 mm) barrel, an overall length of about 161 mm, and a weight of roughly 0.73 kg. Capacity is 8+1 using a single-stack magazine.
Construction is all steel with a polished blued finish on the frame, slide, and receiver. The slide wears wide vertical serrations and a longitudinal anti-glare rib. Controls include a heel-type magazine release, an exposed spur hammer, and a curved trigger. A lanyard ring is fitted at the rear of the grip frame.
Sighting equipment consists of a fixed front blade and a tall, fully adjustable rear sight with windage and elevation screws. A slide-mounted safety also functions as a decocker, providing familiar Makarov-pattern handling.
Grips are the reddish-brown checkered bakelite/phenolic style with five-point star medallions. The included steel magazine features an oval witness slot and a flat baseplate, consistent with single-stack Makarov pattern magazines.
Markings include the KBI, Inc., Harrisburg, PA import stamp, "Made in Russia," and an MP 1014 stamp. The box end label matches the pistol configuration and shows "IJ-70 Makarov 9x18 NE" and Article No. GR8907 (manufacturer part number GR8907).
