It carries the Ruger Mayodan, NC USA rollmark and comes with Ruger iron sights. The AR-556 platform pairs Ruger’s quality control with a familiar AR-15 layout. It runs a semi-automatic, gas-operated, direct impingement system with a carbine-length gas setup, and uses an aluminum-alloy flat-top upper that includes a forward assist and an ejection-port dust cover. The receiver is rollmarked Ruger Mayodan, NC USA.
The 16.10-inch steel barrel uses the classic M4 profile and is threaded at the muzzle, fitted from the factory with an A2-style birdcage flash suppressor. Chambering is 5.56mm NATO, offering broad compatibility with 5.56 NATO ammunition.
Sighting is handled by a fixed A2 front sight tower and a Ruger flip-up aperture rear sight mounted on the flat-top. The carbine-length, two-piece ribbed polymer handguard uses a delta ring for retention and includes a Ruger medallion.
Furniture includes a 6-position adjustable, collapsible polymer stock and a Ruger-marked polymer pistol grip. Controls are standard AR-15 pattern with a manual safety selector. Capacity is 30+1, and this rifle includes one 30-round Magpul PMAG Gen M2 MOE magazine.
