What’s Included
- Universal Firearms M1 Carbine rifle (.30 Carbine)
- 1x 10-round steel M1 Carbine-pattern magazine
- 1x 5-round steel M1 Carbine-pattern magazine
Universal Firearms produced this commercial M1 Carbine-pattern rifle in Hialeah, Florida, and the company, caliber, and patent markings (PAT. 3,38x,xxx) are roll-stamped on the barrel shank (chamber area) forward of the receiver under the ventilated handguard. The receiver itself shows only the serial number at the rear. That patent marking corresponds with Universal’s later “new carbine” design era.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic, gas-operated action with a right-side charging handle and a cross-bolt push-button safety. Capacity is 10+1 with the included 10-round magazine, and a 5-round magazine is also included.
Barrel length is 18 in and unthreaded, paired with a commercial barrel band without a bayonet lug. The steel receiver and metal components wear a blued finish.
Sighting equipment is period-appropriate: a wing-protected front blade on a banded base and a rear adjustable aperture with both a windage knob and elevation ramp. Furniture consists of a low-gloss hardwood stock with a sling/oiler cut and a ventilated steel upper handguard that doubles as a heat shield.
Length of pull measures 13.25 in. Overall, this example reflects Universal’s later production configuration while retaining the classic M1 Carbine handling qualities in a United States–made package.
