The SOCOM 16 configuration brings the M14 platform into a shorter, handier package. Its 16.25-inch steel barrel pairs with a short gas system and a SOCOM multi-port muzzle brake to manage recoil and reduce muzzle rise. Chambered in .308 Win, it feeds from standard M14-pattern magazines and offers a 20+1 capacity.
Sighting is handled by robust iron sights: a protected front post integrated with the gas lock and an aperture rear with protective wings, adjustable for windage and elevation. A forward scout Picatinny rail spans the handguard, and the stripper-clip guide remains in place. The charging handle is on the right side, consistent with the M14/M1A layout.
The rifle is built on a Parkerized steel receiver with a matching finish, delivering a classic, service-grade look. The synthetic stock wears a tan/brown multi-tone camouflage and includes sling swivels, a recoil pad, and textured grip and forend panels for secure handling.
Dimensions and internal specs are well-suited to its role: approximately 37.25 inches overall length and about 8.8–8.9 pounds unloaded. The barrel uses a 1:11-inch right-hand twist with six grooves for .308 projectiles. Markings include the receiver heel marked "US RIFLE M1A SPRINGFIELD ARMORY," a barrel marked ".308," and a right-side fore-end insert noting "SOCOM 16." Made in the United States.
