Built on a stamped AKM-pattern receiver, this SAR 1 has classic Romanian features: magazine well dimples, a ribbed top cover, and a 45-degree gas block. The barrel is 16.3 inches with a plain crowned muzzle and no muzzle device. The matte protective finish and import markings read: "MADE BY S.C. ROMARM S.A./CUGIR IN ROMANIA" and "IMPORTED C.A.I. ST.
ALB., VT."
The furniture is hardwood with a glossy, shellac-type finish. It includes a fixed stock with a steel buttplate and trapdoor, and a two-piece handguard set with a palm-swell lower. The pistol grip is black polymer with molded checkering. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches.
Sighting equipment consists of a post front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters. A Romanian/Soviet-pattern left-side optics dovetail rail is installed. The rifle uses the AK long-stroke gas piston system and is chambered in 7.62x39.
This example is an AWB-era Romanian import from 2000 (confirmed by the year-coded serial suffix). The bayonet lug structure is present, and the cleaning rod channel is present though no rod is installed. The provided bayonet does not attach to the barrel. Capacity is 30+1 with the included steel 30-round magazine.
