Built by Miroku in Japan for Browning’s 1980s reproduction series, this Grade I Carbine preserves the classic Model 71 format with modern precision. The "PR" date code confirms 1987 production within an approximate total run of 13,000 rifles.
The carbine-length 20-inch steel barrel is finished in blued steel and paired with a polished blued steel receiver. It feeds from a tubular magazine with a 4+1 capacity and uses a side loading gate. The barrel is rollmarked "BROWNING MODEL 71 CALIBER .348 WIN." with the address "Browning Arms Co. Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q."
Sighting is set up for clarity and speed with a receiver-mounted aperture (peep) rear sight and a hooded bead front sight. The factory barrel rear sight has been removed, and the barrel’s rear-sight dovetail is neatly plugged with a blank; the original rear sight is included in the sale.
The rifle is stocked in walnut with a straight comb, pistol-grip profile, and uncheckered surfaces. Sling swivel studs are installed. Length of pull measures 13.5. Overall fit and finish reflect Browning’s Grade I configuration and Japanese manufacture quality.
