Product Description

Browning Model 71 Grade I Carbine .348 Win, 20" Barrel, 1987 Miroku Reproduction with Receiver Aperture Sight

This Browning Model 71 Grade I Carbine is a mid-1980s reproduction manufactured by Miroku in Japan, with Browning's "PR" date code indicating 1987 production. Chambered in .348 Win. with a 20-inch carbine barrel, it features a receiver-mounted aperture rear sight and a hooded bead front sight. Approximately 13,000 Model 71 rifles were produced in this Browning run, adding context for buyers seeking a clean, well-configured example with its original rear sight included.

    What’s Included

    • Browning Model 71 owner’s manual/booklet
    • Receiver-mounted aperture (peep) sight, installed
    • Factory barrel rear sight (original), removed and bagged

Built by Miroku in Japan for Browning’s 1980s reproduction series, this Grade I Carbine preserves the classic Model 71 format with modern precision. The "PR" date code confirms 1987 production within an approximate total run of 13,000 rifles.

The carbine-length 20-inch steel barrel is finished in blued steel and paired with a polished blued steel receiver. It feeds from a tubular magazine with a 4+1 capacity and uses a side loading gate. The barrel is rollmarked "BROWNING MODEL 71 CALIBER .348 WIN." with the address "Browning Arms Co. Morgan, Utah & Montreal P.Q."

Sighting is set up for clarity and speed with a receiver-mounted aperture (peep) rear sight and a hooded bead front sight. The factory barrel rear sight has been removed, and the barrel’s rear-sight dovetail is neatly plugged with a blank; the original rear sight is included in the sale.

The rifle is stocked in walnut with a straight comb, pistol-grip profile, and uncheckered surfaces. Sling swivel studs are installed. Length of pull measures 13.5. Overall fit and finish reflect Browning’s Grade I configuration and Japanese manufacture quality.
