The 16-inch 4150 CMV steel barrel is cold-hammer-forged and chrome-lined, with a threaded muzzle and a 1:7 twist to stabilize a wide range of 5.56mm NATO projectiles. A factory closed-tine flash hider with a continuous front ring is installed. The mid-length gas system is paired with a direct-impingement action for consistent operation.
The Daniel Defense MFR 15.0 M free-float M-LOK handguard is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and provides accessory mounting while maintaining barrel free-float. An uninterrupted top Picatinny rail runs from the receiver through the handguard. Integrated QD sling sockets are present, with the U.S. Pat. 7,716,865 marking on the handguard.
The forged aluminum receiver set wears a Type III hard-coat anodized black finish. Key controls include the forward assist, ejection-port dust cover, and brass deflector. The rifle uses the Daniel Defense GRIP-N-RIP ambidextrous, anti-gas charging handle for improved control and gas mitigation at the shooter.
