The Pardner Model SB1 is a straightforward single-shot, break-action shotgun with an exposed hammer and a transfer bar safety system. It is set up with a single front bead sight for a clean sight picture.
The 28-inch steel barrel is blued and chambered for 3-inch 12 gauge shells. It uses a fixed Modified choke, as indicated by the factory roll-mark: "PARDNER - MODEL SB1 12 GA. 3" MOD."
The receiver wears a color case-hardened finish and carries the left-side legend with U.S. Pat. No. 3958643 and "Manufactured in Gardner, Mass., U.S.A." A circled P proof is also present among the markings.
Furniture consists of a hardwood stock and matching fore-end. The stock has a pistol-grip (semi-pistol), uncheckered grip and a black hard rubber/plastic buttplate molded with the NEF logo. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches, and overall length is approximately 43 inches per catalog.
