Built on the stainless J-frame, this revolver uses a round-butt grip frame fitted with black finger-groove synthetic grips. The satin/brushed stainless finish is carried across the frame, barrel, and fluted cylinder, and it uses a short, knurled ejector rod.
Sighting is fixed, with a pinned serrated ramp front and a top-strap groove rear. The 2.125-inch stainless barrel is rollmarked "SMITH & WESSON" on one side and "S.&W. .357 MAGNUM" on the other, matching the chambering in the 5-shot cylinder.
Key markings include the yoke stamp "649-3." This example shows no internal frame lock port, aligning with its configuration. It is identified by S&W mfg. part number 103210 and is made in the United States.
