- Custom-built GR Douglas .45 caliber flintlock longrifle by G. R. Watkins
This longrifle is a custom build by G. R. Watkins with a full-length hardwood stock showcasing incised scroll carving, a cheekpiece, and numerous German-silver inlays. A large hinged patchbox is fitted on the left side of the butt, complementing the decorative metalwork throughout.
The 43" full-length steel barrel is octagonal and browned, with flats stamped "GR DOUGLAS 45 CAL" and "G. R. WATKINS." The exterior finish and traditional profile align with classic longrifle styling.
Brass furniture includes a crescent buttplate, toe plate, trigger guard with finger spur, ramrod pipes, and nose cap. The rifle uses a single trigger and has a 14.0" length of pull for a traditional shoulder fit.
The lockplate is marked "WARRANTED," and the rifle is configured as a single-shot flintlock muzzleloader. Iron sights consist of a dovetailed blade front sight and a rear notch sight for a simple, period-correct sight picture.
Built in the United States, this piece reflects custom craftsmanship with its stock carving, German-silver accents, and crescent-moon inlay on the cheekpiece, paired with a noted GR Douglas barrel in .45 caliber.
