Lewman Arms MG 42 Semi-Automatic, 8mm Mauser - 1944 Gustloff-Werke 'dfb' Parts Set, Quick-Change Barrel, Folding Bipod
This Lewman Arms MG 42 is a closed-bolt, semi-automatic conversion built in the United States from a 1944 Gustloff-Werke (maker code 'dfb') German parts set. It retains the MG 42's quick-change barrel system with conical booster, original-style iron sights, and wartime inspection codes. The rifle presents very cleanly with an excellent, mirror-bright bore and an installed folding front bipod.

What’s Included
- Folding stamped MG 42 front bipod (installed)
Converted by Lewman Arms to semi-automatic, closed-bolt operation, this rifle uses semi-only fire-control components while preserving the MG 42's short-recoil, roller-locked architecture. The build incorporates a stamped sheet steel receiver with a blued/phosphate finish consistent with wartime parts, and it maintains the feed cover and pawl system for belt operation in semi-auto.
Originally made by Gustloffwerke in 1944, this example appears to retain its original wartime components aside from the fire-control group and related internals required for semi-automatic function. The stock is hardwood with a ribbed wooden butt, paired with black ribbed phenolic pistol grip panels for an authentic look and feel.
Sighting is via a front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 m, with a flip-up anti-aircraft leaf. The quick-change barrel system remains in place, paired with the conical booster, and a folding front bipod is mounted near the front of the barrel jacket for supported firing.
German wartime maker and inspection codes are present, including the 'dfb' Gustloff-Werke code along with eagle/WaA acceptances and additional component codes such as 'arz' and 'cof'. Chambered in 8mm Mauser, the rifle features a 20.9 in barrel, and the bore condition is excellent with sharp rifling.
