The rifle includes a Swiss-pattern side-folding skeleton stock, an alloy quad-rail handguard, and a full-length 1913 top rail with T-markings.

The SIG556 Classic SWAT platform uses a long-stroke gas piston derived from the SG 550 family with a two-position adjustable gas regulator. This setup is known for running clean and is well-suited to varied ammunition and conditions. The rifle accepts AR-15/STANAG magazines and is chambered in 5.56 NATO.
The 16 inch barrel features a 1:7 twist, threaded muzzle, and an A2 flash hider. Sighting options include a front sight at the gas block and a full-length top rail for mounting a rear sight or optics. A full-length 1913 top rail with T-markings and an alloy quad-rail handguard with numbered rails provide ample mounting space.
Furniture includes a Swiss-pattern side-folding skeleton stock with a ribbed buttpad and a 13.5 inch length of pull, plus a 551-style polymer pistol grip with horizontal grooves. The charging handle is a right-side, reciprocating, knurled knob, and controls include a manual safety.
Construction combines a Nitron-finished steel upper receiver with an aluminum-alloy lower receiver featuring AR-15 style bolt catch and magazine release, fitted with a separate 551-style polymer pistol grip, finished in black. The receiver is marked SIG556, 5.56 NATO, and SIG SAUER INC., EXETER, NH, USA. The Wings of Destiny edition adds an engraved emblem of an eagle over a parachute with a scroll reading 'WINGS OF DESTINY' on the right magwell.
