The FNS-40 MS configuration adds ambidextrous manual thumb safeties to the striker-fired system, paired with fully ambidextrous slide stops and magazine releases. This layout supports left- and right-handed operation without modification.
The pistol uses a polymer frame with a beavertail and molded micro-checkering for consistent purchase. An interchangeable backstrap system lets the shooter adjust grip size. The frame integrates a 3-slot 1913/Picatinny accessory rail for mounting compatible lights or lasers.
The black slide features front and rear cocking serrations and an external extractor. Fixed 3-dot dovetail sights provide a clear, durable sight picture suited to the full-size platform.
The 4-inch barrel uses 6-groove, left-hand 1:16 rifling for .40 S&W. Capacity is 14+1, and three factory 14-round magazines are included. Controls and reliability-minded design reflect the FNS series approach to duty-ready ergonomics.
This U.S.-made example is marked "MADE IN USA" with FNH USA Fredericksburg, VA rollmarks. It also carries a serial plate with a DataMatrix code on the underside of the dustcover. Provenance includes the factory fired-case envelope dated 06/28/2012 from FN Manufacturing, LLC.
