The Mk47 uses a direct-impingement, gas-operated system chambered in 7.62x39. Its 16.1-inch barrel is threaded and capped with an A2-style birdcage flash hider, providing a practical, ready-to-use muzzle setup.
Designed around AK-pattern magazines, it accepts standard AK mags and uses an AK-style paddle magazine release. The rifle does not lock open on the last round with standard AK magazines. It has right-side ejection with a dust cover and shell deflector, and it omits a forward assist.
The free-float aluminum KeyMod handguard includes a continuous 1913 top rail. A collapsible, 6-position M4-style polymer stock provides adjustable length of pull, listed at 13.25 inches. Controls include a manual safety selector with SAFE/SEMI markings.
